Originally, I really liked the can opener. No Sharp edges and it opened every can without any problems.Two months later, it will not open ANY cans. Absolutely none, even after (what I thought was) a thorough cleaning.I will soon contact Hamilton Beach for repair or replacement under product warranty. We will see what happens.Update: I carefully read the warranty and found that I am responsible for shipping BOTH ways for repair or replacement. The shipping would undoubtedly be more that the cost of the can opener. Truly not worth it. I suspect that is why Hamilton Beach wants us to pay for the shipping - so that they don't have to replace or repair a defective product.Buy another Hamilton Beach product? I don't think so. And I don't think that anybody should. I have since rethought this statement.UPDATE: I realized that I have overreacted and have changed my review from 1 star to 4 stars. A thin piece of metal from opening a can jammed the cutter wheel and kept the cutter from turning. The can opener then stopped working. I removed the four screws at the back of the opener and removed the front. Then I removed the screw holding the circular cutter. This allowed some wiggle room for the cutter, but I was unable to remove the cutter. I cleaned out around the cutter (top and bottom), lubricated around the cutter (top and bottom), and then reassembled. It works now. You would think that Hamilton Beach would post something about this problem.The reason for 4 stars, rather than 5, is their return policy.

I purchased this product 2 years ago. At first it was awesome but what I started noticing overtime were metal shavings on my counter after opening cans. Upon further investigation, I noticed lots of metal shavings and discontinued using it for safety reasons. I wouldn't want anyone in my family including the dogs to ingest metal shavings. Definitely would not buy this product for safety reasons.

I HAVE PROOF with pics and video where SHERDS of METAL are being LEFT in my FOOD. ON the CAN on the SIDES. Usually this does not happen. Can anyone help me ? DO I NEED A NEW HAMILTON BEACH REPLACEMENT Or do I need to just buy a new brand? I love HAMILTON BEACH and I hate to give a BAD REVIEW but my DAD was eating shreds of METAL STRIPS in his MOUTH. I had to stop him. and take the food away and said PLEASE Let me know the next time this happens so he did another CAN and it did it again for me so I could get. good picture and VIDEO. This is VERY SCARY to me. This was NOT LITTLE TINY PEICES it was STRIPS OF METAL SHREDS . They were big if you magnify the PIC you will see.

Very well designed, looks and works like a charm. The cutting wheel cuts the cans open under the top seal of the can and never actually comes in contact with the food inside the can. This keeps things cleaner and more sanitary and also eliminates the possibility of getting metal shavings in your food. It also eliminates dangerous sharp edges, the opened cans are smooth to the touch and the lid does not fall into the food. Unlike the side-cut openers where liquids inside the can will spill more easily due to the lower cut edge, this higher-cutting lid contains everything and easily lifts off after you remove the can from the opener. Easy to use, all you have to do is place the can under a guide on the can opener and click down the locking bar and the can opener does the rest. I've only had the opener for a month but based on the majority of reviews and robust design, it should last for some time.

Two reasons I purchased this product1. I am old and my hands cramp up trying to open a can with those stupid manual can openers.2. I say stupid manual can openers because they use to make them to last. After opening only a few cans with a manual opener - they no longer work. I just got sick and tired of being ripped off by these manufacturers and decided to buy an electric one.There are no sharp edges to contend with, and I have not found a can it will not open yet. (My dog thanks me.)It really is very simple to place a can in so, I cannot understand why in some comments they have such an issue with it. Duuuhh.I highly recommend this can opener. To me, getting the one with the scissors in it, is a gimmick at best.

Best opener ever!Based on all the reviews of the can openers I was looking at here on Amazon, this one was to only one with a resounding "it's amazing" while most other had a lot of bad reviews. So I went with this one. The other reviewers weren't lying!This is an amazing opener, simply to use, love the smooth edges after opening, the machine is quiet. It doesn't tip or wobble in the slightest!Also very sleek looking and looks great out on the counter.Highly recommend!

I ordered the Hamilton Beach can opener as it seemed the best available, delivery was slower than usualI later discovered why as was shipped from USA. On unpacking found a solid machine but was then whensurprises started as it had an american plug and after investigation discovered was 110 volts also. I contacted amazon about return and had to be returned to USA and only one way existed. No local collectand covid 19 shielded was not practical so looked for a converter and whilst not cheap the can openernow works a dream, far better than UK items. If you can put up with the hassle and cost go for it youwill not regret overall.

The first time i used the can opener the bloody thing ( set on fire ) which resulted in me sustaining an injury to my right hand when i attempted to unplug the can opener from the power socket to enable me to put out the fire under my kitchen tap Had i not acted as quickly as i did the situation could quite easily have turned into something more serious than a burnt hand.Despite assurances from Amazon's customer service that this can opener would no longer be advertised on the website because of what happened to me.When i had a look on Amazon today i discovered that this can opener is still being sold by the seller

I did like the idea of this can opener which is supposed to leave no sharp edges when used but it turned up with an American plug attached to it so I couldn’t even try it out. Absolutely useless

Thought as ordered from UK it might have been somehow adapted for UK user. Advert didn't say it was but 110 volts is not something I readily have access to in my kitchen. Sent it straight back. Expensive do considering taxes and postage from USA and nothing to show for it.

Bought this for my Mom who is 80 years old. She just couldn't do the hand crank anymore and I bought her this. She loves it. One feature that's a standout is the magnetized ring above the cutter which grabs the can while it's cutting, so you don't have to hold it in place while it goes around. The other big bonus is the fact that it cuts on the side, so when you take the lid off you don't have this death blade you could cut yourself on (like in the old days). Totally safe, no sharp edges and no strain. I recommend this to anyone looking for one. Still going strong and glad I bought it for my parents!
