Hollow, that was expected. So no issue there. Feels cheap but for the price, it does the work properly and is a decent deal.I "dislike" misleading descriptions. I specifically purchased this item instead of another one because it says that it includes 2 replacement wires. There is only one. Please change the description. I would not recommend this product or any other items from this seller as I can no longer rely on their descriptions.

Immediately upon opening the package on this I realized the mistake I had made. The "Stainless Steel" the item refers to is just a thin coating on top of a poorly cast alloy of some kind, that feels so cheap it would likely snap in half at some point if dropped even from a short distance. The unit is hollow on the rear and overall feels like crap. The bigger issue is the wire itself. There's simply no way to pull it tight, even after the arduous task of loosening the screws and trying in vain to pull the wire tight while tightening the screws simultaneously. On top of this, the "thickness" adjustment doesn't stay straight, doesn't go nearly thin enough (about an 1/8" thinnest) and the barrel is made of the cheapest plastic imaginable.Overall this is a terrible purchase, and I would avoid it at all costs. I did not even bother to try cutting cheese with it as it surely would have just increased my frustration, if not just bursting into flames.

The product looked OK online, but when it arrived, I was a little disappointed. The metal frame is solid, but hard to hold onto. The adjustable cutting width is difficult at best. The screw is small and requires a screwdriver to tighten the screw up enough to cut a consistent piece of cheese. As my husband and I like our cheese slices different widths, I found the adjusting screw to much of a hindrance and not easy to use. As well, I found this cheese cutter difficult to hold onto while cutting a piece of cheese.

The way the wire is oriented on the handle, it is impossible to slice the cheese all the way to the surface it is sitting on and you always have to break the last bit off. While this slicer is okay, if I could do it over again, I'd shop for an alternative.
