I was very excited to purchase this wok, however, upon receiving it, I quickly realized this is not the Professional wok advertised here on amazon.1. the temperature/heating is now a dial without markings, and the indication light is non-existent.2. the wok itself is very shallow, having cooked with professional woks for over a decade a shallow wok is not ideal, especially when making stir fry, it will not have enough room for you to stir, nor fry.3. because the wok is very shallow with a rather flat bottom, the steaming rack attachment is very small, and has only about a 1/4 inch foot to it, this will making steaming hard as the foot on the rack kind of determines the amount of water you can add to the wok, as well as how long you can steam. with the rack being so small and the foot being so short, the advertised steaming mechanism will not be achieved properly.4. the detachable bottom of the wok is quite sharp on the edges, could potentially cut you, and is a hassle to reattach.Last but not least, this has nothing to do with the product but the shipping method Amazon carried out. This product was supposed to ship in an Amazon box, so it can cover the manufacturing box, so not every passerby will know what I'm buying, and that whomever I intended to purchase this for would not see this box prior to me getting to it and properly gift wrap it. The manufacture packaging was also dinged up, which is quite unpleasing to receive. This is the 2nd time Amazon has done this, last time they left a KitchenAid stand mixer that was over $300 by our door without Amazon packaging. Good thing I was home when it was delivered so no passerbys couldve taken it.

I bought this as a gift for someone and I get nothing but compliments about it. I’m told it’s super easy to clean and is lightweight. The person I bought it for uses it almost daily and cant get enough of it. Glad to hear this is a quality product.

I've actually revised my review from a 5 to a 4 now that I've had some time to use it. Here are my Pro's and Con's:Pros:1) EXCELLENT cooking surface2) Excellent temperature control3) Heats up quickly4) Tempura/Steaming Racks are nice accessory included5) Cleans very easily-the easy quick release button to separate the actual wok from the base is very convenient and built nicelyCons:1) The lid's 'adjustable' steam control mechanism doesn't work (or if it does it is poorly designed). I've even so far as taken it off to check for obstructions. However, it's a poor design2) The semi-circular tempura rack doesn't easily sit nicely on the rim of the wok3) When you do get the racks to sit properly on the wok's rim, the lid then isn't completely sealed to really steam effectively as it can't create a steam-filled cooking area in the wokAll this aside it still is a very good wok and I do still highly recommend it

I live in an efficiency apartment so i don't have a stove or oven. I got this Wok in order to be able to cook a wider variety of foods. I have primarily used it to boil water to make noodles or to fry eggs. It has worked well in both of those capacities almost all of the time. It heats very fast, once I turn it on I can usually start frying an egg within a minute or two, and as long as the lid is on it boils water quickly too. It is in two pieces, the pan and the bottom heating part. They lock together securely, but if you do take off the pan part, it doesn't have a good surface to set down, so don't plan on taking just the pan and using it to serve food out of. There was one time when it just turned off in the middle of frying an egg and wouldn't turn back on for twenty minutes or so. It did turn back on later and has worked fine since then. My best guess is that since I had washed it just before I used it I had gotten some water in the heating mechanism and that was causing it to not work but once the water had evaporated it started working again. The only other problem I have had with it is that I have it on the same power strip as my microwave and I have found that I can not use both at the same time without overloading my power strip. That problem should be easily solved if you plug it into a wall or don't want to use it at the same time as other electrically greedy appliances on the same strip.

Wife and I never owned any form of wok before but decided on an electric, based on other reviewers who claimed the range top variety doesn't get hot enough. The relatively low cost of the Aroma afforded an affordable chance to try wokking. We are so glad we did.The size of this wok is perfect for us. We've fed four adults from one batch of Terriaki salmon stir-fry, seconds included. When it's the two of us, we have enough to refrigerate for another meal. Our meals reheat very well in the microwave. We could've fit even more food in the wok but a couple of preheated (microwaveable, frozen) vegetable packs fit nicely with the meat. This unit heats up fully in about 5 minutes. The indicator light goes out to let you know when your selected temperature has been reached. We cook most meats at 7 or 8, but used 9 for pork because I like it darkened more. We marinate the meat before it goes in. We tend to use more peanut oil than recommended to ensure the meat cooks quickly and completely in 2 minutes. It hasn't bothered the flavor. After two minutes we add the vegetables that we pre-heated. We then drizzle more sauce (soy plus terriaki, sweet and sour, Jack Daniels barbecue, whatever we marinated with) and often sprinkle on some coriander (its lemony flavor is especially great with shrimp and with salmon pieces). The Aroma cools down in 15 minutes or so. It's very easy to wipe clean with a lightly soaped and dampened paper towel. We haven't found the need to place it in the sink for immersion cleaning. We don't use the lid because we don't steam anything, but it's made of heavy glass and has vent openings for when needed. The power cord and controller are unitized and have a squeezeable lever to attach and disconnect it from the wok. We push it in a little farther after the lever has been released because the unit isn't otherwise fully inserted. You'll readily feel this.Given the price we were astonished at the quality of the materials. Who can say how long the cooking surface coating will last -- on this Aroma or on the higher priced brands? At this price and given how much we now enjoy wokking we'll certainly replace it when the time comes with whichever brand and model looks to do the job.

I bought this wok in January of this year to replace a wok that I had for over 20 years and figure it's time to get a more up to date and maybe safer in terms of coating. I used the new wok every week. It did a great job of heating and cooking various dishes. But in July while cooking a dish, the wok blew a fuse and stopped working altogether even after I reset the fuse. Other appliances were tested & work in the same wall socket. So I'm really surprised and disappointed that this wok could last beyond a year.

Never worked correctly the two times I used it. Would get very hot, as a wok should be, then pretty much turn itself off until things stopped cooking, then would heat up again and repeat. I looked into the warranty (didn't realize the problem until I'd already thrown the box away and was past Amazon return) and they wanted me to pay shipping and could possibly take a month to get a replacement that might not have worked anyway (I wasn't the only one having this problem). So, I just said screw it and tossed it. I'll take the shipping money and go buy the Breville I should have bought in the first place; after having one years ago that was fantastic.
