I've had this blender for a bit now and as I sit here, drinking a pina colada, I was moved to write some kind words. This thing not only blended my drink, but it is a fine puree, ice and all. I cannot even detect the smallest particle of ice. That is smooth. The first time I used this machine I noticed that it does something pretty cool with ice. Ice blends one way, reverses direction and runs that way for a bit and then back. It does this a few times and that seems to keep sucking the larger ice chunks down to break down. Having never witnessed something like this before, I exclaimed something to the effect of, "Goddamn! I love the future!" Shortly after, I was sucking down a margarita with a straw.I cannot speak for stringy vegetation or compare this to a vitamax or whatever brand people with several hundreds of dollars to spend and a smoothie habit to satisfy. I can tell you that for the price this goes for, it's a 5 star product and has a metal drive.

Great blender crusher. Use often for ice making sorbets, pulverizing almonds, and shredding carrots for salad. Completely fills the bill. My last blender was a vitamixer. I had it for almost 20 years and it was superb in every aspect. I loved it to death. However I no longer need a blender to grind flour out of whole wheat or to make hot soups. I mainly want to make humus, fruit drinks, vegie spreads and sorbets. Might be the perfect blender. Very few have reverse gears like this one. Totally necessary for my needs. My street cred? Ive been to culinary school, worked in a commercial kitchen, and i play with food. Rock on Oster!Update 8/2018 still works like new. Has been seriously abused by us with carrot chunks and ice.Update 8/2019 still works like new. My husband in a rare cleaning frenzy lost the lid. Buying a replacement lid to avoid cyclonic ceiling splashes of frozen blueberries. Still not my fav blender but it did not set me back $400. The vitamix of old which lasted 20 years plus is still my most loved. But this abused work horse has lasted 3 years longer than expected.

I have used this a couple weeks and LOVE it! Very easy to clean. I rinse it immediatly with hot water and then put hot water and dish soap in it and run it on high pulse for 15 seconds. Rinse it with hot water and put upside down to dry. SOOOOO easy! I will take it apart and clean it well probably once a month. I put frozen fruit, nuts, spinach, juices, powders and fresh fruit in my shakes and it turns out great. LOVE the frozen drinks and shakes pre-programmed setting that pulls all the ingredients down to be blended. It makes things very smooth with no strings or chunks left. I'm so happy with my purchase and I didn't spend $400 + on a Vitamix or Blendtech. I will update if this thing turns into a piece of junk, but it seems really well built and works great!

Really lacks the power to make smoothies and frozen drinks. Very very loud. I'm constantly having to stop, stir, replace lid, blend and then the cycle repeats. Also, tried to blend a sauce in it and it really did a poor job. It is easy to clean, so if all you want to do is clean a blender and not blend, then this is the model for you!I'm going to tough it out for a few more months and then move on to another brand. So disappointed I'd never purchase an Oster product again.

I got this and another Oster brand blender (Oster Master Series Blender with Texture Select Settings) to see which one was better as I was tired of getting blenders that would not blend my smoothies smoothly (the ninja did NOT get them smooth). Unfortunately this blender was lacking in the smoothness. It was much quieter than any blender I’ve had before, but it did not evenly blend my smoothies. I would definitely choose the cheaper Texture selector blender and will be returning this one to save time and some money!

I like the fact that this blender is the same one used to make probably 100 smoothies per day at my local Nutrition Hub. I have two complaints.1. The lid came cracked in an undamaged box. It is still usable but a disappointment.2. The labels on the front buttons are in a different language. French I believe as it says "Frappe" for the button that should say "Frozen Drinks & Shakes".I am scheduled to receive a new one tomorrow and if these are resolved I will definitely change my rating. I'm really hoping this will be resolved since it seems to perform well at my Nutrition Hub store.Update - New blender arrived and had no broken parts. Good start. Now for the bad...it still came with the foreign language on the face of the blender so I don't know exactly what each button does. Since this is the same blender as what is used at my local shop I know the sequence of buttons that they use. But for my wife and kids, well that's another story. The pictures show it in English - the unit should come that way. I will try contacting product support and see if they can do anything to get me the right one. Stay tuned.Update 2 - Called customer support and they put me in touch with a rep from Oster. They could not explain why I was receiving the blender with the label in a foreign language. However, they are sending me another new one that hopefully this time will be in english. I upgraded to 4 stars for the time being. I will let you know what happens when the THIRD one arrives. Again...stay tuned!

UPDATE#2: OSTER CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE!!!!!! She had me searching and squinting to find some tiny numbers imprinted on the bottom of the machine. When I told her they weren't there, I read her the whole bottom but NO NUMBERS, she said they're very small and most customers dont see them. Well then heres an idea Oster - put an easy to read sticker on it like everyone else does! She needs those numbers to verify the warranty. Needless to say, I go nowhere with them. Now I'm supposed to send in a picture of the bottom to an email so they can possibly see it. What a hassle! I'm knocking this down to one star and I will never buy another Oster product again.UPDATE: Ive now had this blender almost 3 years and it just completwly broke and started leaking my soup puree everywhere! I guess 3 years is pretty good for a kitchen appliance, but this blender barely gets use. I might use it a few times/month. We don't make daily smoothies in our house. And thats practically all Ive used the blender for. Ive made homemade pesto a few times, a spaghetti sauce and pureed soups (in batches). Very light use. I put it in the dishwasher because its supposed to be dishwasher safe. And trying to hand wash that insanely sharp double blade is just asking for a nasty cut. Today, I screwed on the base after adding some cooked soft bean soup ans hit the slow stir as I'd done before to make soup. But this time, the blade was struggling and I noticed liquid pouring out the back if the machine and from under the pitcher. I immediately stopped, dumped out the contents and unscrewed the bottom cap - the blade fell out and nearly cut me! I dont know how or when this happened but it appears the gasket that seals and holds the blade to the cap wore out! So now the blade just spins and spins and the bottom leaks. Its useless. And dinner was ruined. I had to mash my soup by soup and the texture wasnt right. I had to clean up the mess in the blender bottom and counter too. I called Oster to see what could be done. I think the manufacturers warranty is only 1 year. They werent open so now I have to call back tomorrow and hope they will replace it. Not sure if I would buy another Oster after this - Ive seen other reviews of broken gaskets on these where the blade goes flying! Not sure how safe this product is with faulty gaskets. I would give 1 star but at least I got 3 years out of mine. Might be hunting for another one tomorrow. If it wasn't so loud I'd love it. It gets 4 stars for the noise. But this thing is powerful. It works great for smoothies and even juicing. The blade is dangerous though! My husband already got cut by it cuz it's SHARP and double sided. Very difficult to maneuver without cuts. Keep the kids away!

This blender works great! I love the frozen drink setting because it knows when it's done blending and stops. Everything came in good condition except for the lid... I noticed it doesn't suction close because of a manufacture defect. I don't mind it so much, but might need to buy a new lid down the line.

I absolutely love this Osterizer. It is the only one that I have found that does a reverse mode which is awesome for smoothies and thick batter. The reverse mode is just at the start of 2 choices. I bought this one as backup for my old one not trusting it will be available in the future. I even tried both a Ninja and Vitamix which I returned as neither performed as well at a much higher price.

I originally purchased this in April 2017 and just short of a year later the control buttons fell into the machine while my husband was using it. I was away for 3 weeks so he ordered an identical machine. Had I known I would have paid for a protection plan or ordered another style. The second machine was ordered on April 10, 2018 and yesterday July 5th when I began to use it I noticed that the plastic housing of the machine was cracked on both sides where the blender base fits in all the way down the side and the back nearly to the bottom of the machine. I have owned cheaper models of Oster blenders that lasted better than these two and would never buy another like this.

I really think this has a quality 'feel' to it, but I haven't yet tried it out on anything more substantial that smoothies. The motor seems to be very strong, but who knows how it will work if I try to do some 'heavy' chopping or whatever. I do want to mention that I was a bit careless about having the lid on incorrectly the first time I used this, and I paid the price for that! Won't make that mistake again. I might update this review at a later time, but for now, I'm giving it five stars!

Ok so I have owned this now for a good while and used it many many times. It still works perfectly. It is very loud. And i know it's a blender so obviously it's gonna make alot of noise, but it's more of a screeching sound. It blends well but making smoothies, it sometimes struggles blending it if there is not enough liquid since the blades are only at the bottom vs the ninja that has blades all through the container. But for what I paid for it, it's good!

I bought this product over a year ago and think it is junk!!! It has plenty of power, but I think the blade is poorly designed. The blade spins so fast it bores a hole in whatever you have in the jar instead of blending it together. I've tried various combinations of layering items in the jar and adding liquid to encourage blending. Apparently there is some magic combination I just can't figure out. So, I replaced it with a Ninja and now have smoothies with blended and smooth ingredients. My suggestion is to not buy this item!

This blender has a program where the blade runs one direction and then in reverse a couple of times before running full speed. That helps pull ingredients into the blades. It is a bit noisy. I put a hot pad under it to absorb some of the noise. It works quite well for the price.

I love this blender. I make protein smoothies almost daily. The ice crushing feature is amazing. Very smooth. It blends spinach to a liquid. It works much better than the Ninja I had before and costs much less. Plus the blade fits into small mouth canning jars. You can blend sauces right in the storage container. You can also order replacement parts for this unit.
