Really, quite an exceptional panini press. I bought this for my wife after I looked at other models and some did not have an adjustable heat (why would you not want that?) and this one was also wider than many others. She absolutely loves it and I've been very impressed by it from a guy's standpoint. The adjustable heat is definitely a nice feature and the adaptive hinge works great so that you press the food, not squish the food.The one "con" on this is that some of the edges (like near the hinge) get blazing hot and I've burned myself a couple times before I got used to where the "no touchy" zones were.Packaging was also a little lacking but hey it was Christmas and I'm sure they were crushed. But that's not a knock on the machine, just on whoever thought one little sheet of heavy paper was enough packing material.

I bought this panini press based on other Amazon reviews and am so glad I did. This press stores on its side, so it takes up little space in your cabinet, it's super easy to clean and it comes with an actual cookbook called "Delizioso!" which is full of delicious recipes ranging from breakfast style panini all the way through dessert style panini and crostini. This panini press heats up quickly and cooks evenly. The first time I used it, and every time since, my panini came out perfectly. And, I was impressed with how easy the clean up was. I use this press at least 3 times a week to feed my family of 4, and can't imagine not having it. It's so easy to make healthy lunches and dinners with this press. Just throw in a fresh salad at dinner time, and you're set. Literally, you have a fantastic meal in less than 15 minutes.My favorite panini are tomato, fresh basil and mozzerella cheese on rustic whole wheat bread, cheddar cheese, pre-cooked bacon and tomato on honey whole wheat bread, diced chicken, diced dried apricot and mayo on rustic whole wheat bread, and stuffed french toast.If you like cooking at home, like food that tastes delicious, yet don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning up or prepping then this is the panini press to get. Also, this press says it holds 2 sandwiches, but really you can easiy do 3 at a time-maybe 4 depending on how big you make your sandwiches.This is an awesome piece of kithchen equipment.

Love it. Works great. We bought a much more expensive Breville unit, and were always disappointed with the results. We came to find there was some kind of problem with the Breville thermometers, but Breville refused to support the product even though it was their manufacturing defect. I will NEVER buy Breville again.But the DeLonghi unit is great; looks great, works great, and doesn't completely break the bank. We use ours for Panini's, but you can use it to cook or grill just about anything.Highly recommended!

*Update- I purchased this nine years ago and have been using it at least weekly. It still makes the best grilled sandwiches I have ever had. Any Panini press that gets hot will make a good sandwich, but knowing the quality behind this DeLonghi makes me like the ones it makes even more.I never wanted to upgrade it because I like its simplicity. I had looked at newer models but so many cost more and only have single plate heating. This means you have to turn the sandwich over and repress. It really gets a workout with Thanksgiving leftovers. My family won't eat a turkey sandwich any other way. The price is still reasonable and I can vouch for the longevity. This Panini Press is a workhorse.

I bought this unit based on excellent Amazon reviews. Here is what I found out upon using it for about 2 weeks:1. it has no off switch, and when you plug it in/out of the wall, sparks come flying out of the socket. There is no way to turn this unit off except unplug it, which yields sparks that look very unsafe. The only thing it has is a temperature knob.2. There is no way to determine the temperature. The readout is "Low, Medium, High", but there is no information anywhere on what the actual temperature is, which is necessary to cook stuff. I checked the manual, nothing.3. It cooks paninis :)

I was looking for this unit for long time then I finally pulled the trigger. The unit came in nice secure box and no damage and no complain. The product quality is good as I expected, the mirror shiny top made it look very luxurious. As manual said, you have to pre-heat the unit to remove "burning plastic" like smell out of the unit. We made a simple turkey, bacon, tomato panini on wheat toast and came out very good. overall I am very happy with this unit but 2 things I wish this unit has. The first one is power button. You must plug and unplug the unit in order to cut the power. Another thing is drain container. I wish the container is part of the unit, not a completely separate container. But again, this is a solid unit and I expect to last long.
